Are we carried away up into heaven after dying?

Lots of Christians think that they can be taken up into heaven straight after they die. Others take it that people go either to a purgatory, a hell or heaven. But how would they come in to that transfer from one to the other place, from the earth to the new place?

In case there would be a soul, a special element in the human body, that departs it when the person dies, would go to a place of damnation or a place of bless there would be no reason for Jesus to return later to come and judge that person, because he or she would already received judgment by being placed either in heaven or in the torture chambers of purgatory and hell.

So what really happens when we die and what is going to happen in the future?
